A small community school in the Kimberley has a primary position available for 2024 in Year 2! An abundance of incentives are on offer for the right teachers who is engaging, adaptive and open to new experiences.
Located approximately 3 hours from Derby, the school arose from a desire by the community to gain independence over the education of their children to remain strong and proud in their own culture and identity. The community believed their school should be governed by the local people and their cultural, kinship and traditional values would form the foundation for their children’s education. The school enrols 70 students across Years K-12 with approximately 6-10 attending in the class. Through your role, you will have a deep appreciation and respect for Aboriginal ways of living and be committed to learning about local culture, when invited by the community. You will be supporting a team-teaching approach with Aboriginal Educators to deliver culturally relevant teaching and learning across the Western Australian curriculum.
This is a full-time position from Term 3 2024 for the remainder of 2024 or a year contract, with a possibility to extend. Shorter term contracts will be considered.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess and/or demonstrate,
- TRBWA teaching registration and Working With Children clearance check (or ability to obtain one)
- A knowledgeable educator with a strong interest in Aboriginal culture and issues
- Comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum
- A high standard of competency and proficiency as a classroom teacher
- The capacity to differentiate and cater for different learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good administrative skills
- Ability to create and maintain relationships and listen to the needs of the students, school and community

- Salary between $78,397 to $117,854
- $18,000 financial continual FT employment incentive after a full calendar year
