Wandiyali is a Newcastle-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community Organisation. Our services operate throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Region and Port Stephens.
Each year Wandiyali assists hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members through the delivery of its many services.

The Opportunity
Yiring is an early intervention program that provides a range of flexible supports to young people aged 10-17 involved with or at risk of involvement with the youth justice system. The program aims to empower young people and their families to achieve change in the young person's behavior, increase safety, build on protective factors and prosocial behaviors, and increase connection to culture.
As Wandiyali Yiring Manager, you provide support, supervision, and leadership to a collaborative and dedicated team of up to four Case Workers.

Essential Criteria:
A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of our Organisation
· Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
· Relevant qualifications and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable
children, young people and families
· Strong understanding of the risk and protective factors relating to youth offending and/or
anti-social behavior and the barriers for families to addressing these.
· Knowledge and experience in delivering evidence-informed, culturally appropriate, and
developmentally appropriate behavioural interventions to support children, young people
and families to improve social and emotional wellbeing; increase coping skills, self-regulation
skills; increase connection to culture and community; increase school/education
engagement; increase engagement in education/vocational studies/employment.
· Demonstrated experience leading a team, providing individual and group supervision, and
supporting the processes of assessment and implementation of case plans.
· Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or willingness to commit to further training in
implementing evidence-informed programs in the context of youth offending and child
protection.
· Demonstrated capacity for self-management, which includes time management; problem
solving; planning, coordinating and prioritising multiple tasks; a realistic and balanced view of
own strengths and development opportunities; accepting responsibility for own actions;
recognising own feelings and personal prejudices and understanding why they occur.
· The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders,
interagency partners, and other services in our community.
· Highly developed interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills.
· Experience in appropriate record keeping, report writing and data entry.
· Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work as a member of a busy team.
· Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision
processes.
· Alibility and willingness to implement appropriate and respectful conflict resolution strategies
within the working environment and the community.
