Next Step suite of services include Alternative Care Arrangement (short-term accommodation supports), NDIS supports and services, community supports, daily living and in-home supports, drop-in support, mentoring, supervised contact and or supervised transport and outreach services.
About the Role
We are looking for people who can work independently and are passionate about directly supporting children and young people experiencing trauma in a sensitive and strengths-based approach with a commitment to providing the best level of care and support possible.
As a Youth Support Worker, you will provide support with day-to-day living (administering medication, preparing meals, supporting/participating in core activities and appointments aligned with young person’s case plan. Your ability to motivate and encourage each young person’s development through each engagement will see you thrive and reach key life goals for the children and young people we support.
Remuneration
Successful applicants will be remunerated under the SCHADS Award (level 2 - level 3 $38.08 to $44.71 per hour plus applicable shift work loadings) The classification level will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience and/or qualification to work with children and young people
- Availability to work flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and sleepover shifts
- Commitment to working within the legislative framework and the organisations' policies and procedures
- Commitment to providing professional and safe services to all children and young people in Next Steps care
- Commitment to on-going training and professional development
- High standard of professional ethical behavior and sound understanding of boundaries.
- Certificate 3, Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, Children’s Services, Counselling, Case Management, or relevant field.
Certifications and Clearances (Must hold or be willing to obtain)
- Valid Australian drivers’ license
- First Aid Certificate
- 100 points of certified ID (Passport, Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate etc) certified documents can be verified at any pharmacy or police station in NSW
- Australian Police Check (a criminal record check completed within the last 6 months, where a new employee has lived outside Australia for 12 months or more within the last 10 years, an international check is also required)
- Working with Children Check
- Right to work in Australia (Australian or New Zealand citizenship or relevant working visa documentation)
- Suitable vehicle (A clean, roadworthy vehicle insured with full comprehensive cover, the vehicle must be capable of transporting passengers in a safe manner)
- Willingness to undergo thorough checks from the Department of Communities and Justice
