North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. We are seeking a full-time Youthworker for our Planet X Youth Centre located in St Leonards Park. The position will assist the Youth Services Coordinator and the part time Youthworker to implement activities, programs and policies to meet the needs of young people aged 12 to 18 who live, study, work in or visit the North Sydney area.
The successful applicant will have relevant qualifications and experience preferably in the Youth Work, Social Work or Social Science area and an understanding of issues faced by young people.
Essential Criteria- Relevant experience in Youthwork, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Tertiary qualifications in (or near completion of) Youthwork, Social Work, Social Sciences or related disciplines
- Understanding, knowledge and/or experience in issues faced by young people
- Experience with young people facing challenges and undertaking risky behaviours
- Demonstrated experience and skills in working with young people in direct service provision.
- Ability to communicate with and relate to young people
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Competent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate creative and developmental youth programs.
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Computer literacy
- Current NSW Working With Children Check
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Experience in trauma behaviours and trauma informed responses
- Knowledge of local youth and other related services
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Other youth related interests and skills

Salary Range: $77,166 to $92,140 per annum + 11% superannuation + $1,000 pa Transport allowance - 35 hours per week TUESDAYS TO SATURDAYS
