We are seeking a Youth Worker to support engagement of young people and their families. In promoting Equity and Excellence and maximising learning days, you will support families and students to build resilience and support the transition of young people back into education or an occupational pathway? Many of these young people have complex backgrounds that require significant support to successfully engage in their educational program. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2024 until 30 June 2024, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role:
Based in Metropolitan North Regional Office (Nundah and North Lakes) this role is to support re-engagement of young people into an educational pathway to ensure they reaching their full potential and maximise their learning days. Building partnerships, referrals and collaboration with external agencies to support the student and deliver meaningful pathways are a key component of this role.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Be part of a professional regional team working with schools and the community, and liaise with officers of welfare agencies and other government departments.
- Liaise with families and conduct home visits to encourage school attendance and Student Engagement in an education or training pathway.
- Work within a team based case coordination approach as a contact for students, families or community members regarding attendance and engagement concerns.
- Collaboratively assess the behaviour and wellbeing of students to identify issues and organise intervention.
- Contribute, lead and implement initiatives to encourage a positive, caring and supportive school environment for students, families and community members.
- Act as an independent mediator between schools, students, families and community members to enhance open communication.
- Assist in the development of innovative and effective strategies for building positive relationships between schools, students, families, community members and stakeholder groups to promote communication and resolve issues that impact on attendance and engagement.
