About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker who is passionate about engagement in challenging environments.
Working across Parramatta, Penrith and other parts of Western Sydney the Youth Worker will lead consultations with young people and deliver programs and activities.
The Youth Worker will collaborate with local community partners to design and deliver programs in alignment with the needs of each local community which may include Streetgym, skill-based workshops and wellbeing programs.
Working Monday- Friday this position has varied hours to meet the needs of young people and will include evening work.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, or related field
- Demonstrated ability working in a performance driven environment to meet performance targets and funding requirements.
- Experience working within a challenging environment and delivering outreach consultation, programs & activities
- Understanding of current issues facing young people, particularly Parramatta LGA and surrounding areas
- Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and part of a team
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation skills, assisting and supporting young people with complex issues, in group settings and one on one.
- Have excellent youth engagement skills developed through working with young people to create meaningful initiatives on a local level.
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement and program promotion.
- Confident to lead and participate in sporting and recreation activities.
- HLTAID004/ HLTAID012- Current First Aid
- HLTAID009/ HLTAID001- Current CPR
- Current drivers’ licence with own car
Desirable
- Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse young people
- 3 + years experience working with vulnerable young people in a community setting
- Knowledge of Results Based Accountability
