About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker who is passionate about working with young people in challenging environments.

The position, based in Oran Park, but will work across the Camden LGA to deliver our suite of youth programs including Streetgym, skill and personal development programs, community development activities and other initiatives that support the wellbeing of young people.

You will also support our Coordinator to keep our Y Space Online platform current by liaising with community stakeholders to update listings and sourcing information to support young people so it would be awesome if you are comfortable on a computer.

We are looking for a real self-starter that likes to work in a small, autonomous team while creating massive impact! You will have an opportunity to influence and shape the programs in alignment with local community needs.

Essential Criteria

• Experience working within a challenging environment and delivering outreach programs & activities.
• Minimum Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services or related field
• Strong administration skills and use of technology (experience with wordpress is an advantage)
• Demonstrated ability working in a performance driven environment to meet performance targets and funding requirements.
• Understanding of current issues facing young people, particularly Camden youth.
• Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and part of a team
• Confident to lead and participate in recreation activities.
• HLTAID004/ HLTAID012- Current First Aid and HLTAID009 - Current CPR
• Working with Children Check (Employee)
• Current driver’s licence with own car

Desirable

• 2 + years’ experience working with vulnerable young people in a community setting
• Demonstrated experience in group facilitation skills, assisting and supporting young people with complex issues, in group settings and one on one.
• Experience in facilitating in sporting and recreation activities.
