Zone Training Advisor, Clerk Grade 7/8, Goonellebah/Lismore & Tamworth

What you'll be doing

The NSW SES has an exciting opportunity for a training professional looking to utilise and expand their skills and knowledge whilst working with a team of dedicated staff and volunteers.

You will utilise your skills to co-ordinate the development and implementation of training plans, building capability and capacity within a dynamic and essential emergency service agency.

The purpose of the role is to Manage the development, deployment, monitoring and evaluation of the NSW SES State-Wide Training and Exercise Plan within a specific Zone, partnering with the broader Training team and key stakeholders within and across Zones to ensure consistency and effectiveness of delivery at local level.

NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. We are a volunteer-based organisation that provides emergency assistance to the people of NSW 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is the approximately 9,000 volunteers across the state that make this possible.

As the NSW combat agency responsible for flood, storm operations and tsunamis. The NSW SES also provides a key rescue function, including being the key provider of general rescue efforts in the rural parts of the state, this includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Thorough knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes and completion of DAME (Design and Manage Exercises) and/or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 (or equivalent, or higher-level qualification) or the current version (where the Certificate IV has been updated).
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in project management.
  • Delivering the State-Wide Training and Exercise Plan within and across Zones to meet organisational business needs, budget, and legislative and compliance requirements whilst ensuring effectiveness at a local level.
  • Maintaining collaborative partnerships with all Training team members, Zone Commanders, operational teams and volunteers that enable emerging issues to be identified and solutions developed and implemented in an efficient, effective and consistent manner.
  • Delivering appropriate, consistent training and exercises across a geographically dispersed business in a time of transition for the organisation.
