This Federal Government Department in collaboration with other Federal agencies, consumers and stakeholders aims to improve the environment through effective policy advising, research and regulation.

Your new role
This area are looking for candidates who can work as part of a small team, as well as under limited direction to contribute to the successful outcomes for these projects. The candidates would primarily need to be well organised, possess well developed oral and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise with technical experts in industry and government as well as international stakeholders.

You may also be responsible for organising visits by international delegations, and there may be opportunities to represent the department on committees and in negotiations/discussions within the portfolio and with outside organisations including industry and other external stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

  • have strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to communicate complex and/or technical issues effectively to senior executives, external stakeholders or clients
  • be high performers who are motivated to work independently with limited direction and have a demonstrated ability to engage with other staff and manage significant issues or projects
  • work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve work area and agency goals and enthusiastically support the development of a learning and innovative team culture
  • have the ability to represent the branch in a professional and informed manner when providing advice to stakeholders or industry
  • have an awareness of and ability to anticipate and communicate the impacts of policy proposals to relevant stakeholders
  • have sound judgement and an ability to work in a team, prioritise tasks and produce high quality work within agreed timeframes.
  • have strong administrative and secretariat skills.
