Emeregency Medicine Registrar

The RMH ED is Victoria’s busiest adult Emergency Department and major trauma service seeing more than 90,000 patients annually. Our ED comprises 52-beds including 8 resuscitation and trauma bays, 3 high consequence pathogen negative pressure rooms and two co-located 28-bed Short Stays and a separate 12-bed ‘Hub‘ specifically designed for mental health, alcohol and other drug crisis and toxicology patients. Future ED developments, including a new department and a dedicated trauma pod, will provide further opportunities to expand Emergency Medicine care at RMH.
The RMH is a major teaching hospital and academic centre and sits at the epicentre of the Parkville Precinct. Consisting of the RMH, VCCC, RWH, RCH, University of Melbourne, Walter and Elisa Hall and the Doherty Institutes, together they add to the diversity of patients presenting to the RMH ED and create world class opportunities for collaboration and research.
The department is heavily focussed on education with a highly successful Emergency Registrar training program. The RMH ED is committed to supporting staff with part-time working arrangements on offer.
The RMH ED is accredited for two years training by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and has an outstanding registrar education program with protected teaching time each week, in-house primary and fellowship exam preparation courses and unsurpassed ACEM examination success rates; registrars are expected to commit and contribute to the training program.
As a RMH ED Registrar, you have access to internal rotations including Anaesthetics, ICU, and Psychiatry and external rotations to the Royal Women's, Royal Children's, The Northern, Royal Victorian Eye & Ear and Sunshine Hospitals. There are country anaesthetic rotations to Wangaratta and Ballarat Base Hospitals available for registrars seeking experience in rural Emergency Medicine.
Your training will be conducted under the supervision of 35 EFT of FACEMs who have post graduate experience in toxicology, ultrasound, retrieval medicine, research, prehospital care, medical education, in factious diseases and simulation.

Eligibility:
- Minimum 3-years post graduate experience.
- Demonstrated interest and performance in the provision of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
- Demonstrated commitment to further training in the field of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- A commitment to a patient focussed service and quality management.
- High level of professionalism in dealing with staff and key stakeholder relationships.
- Willingness to work a rotating roster including weekend, evening and night shifts.
