About the Victorian Heart Hospital
The Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) is Australia's first and only dedicated cardiac hospital. VHH is uniquely located on the Monash University campus and brings together world-class clinicians and researches with the aim of providing exemplary cardiac care. VHH is the largest cardiology service provider in Victoria with 270 staff across four service sites, providing over 82,000 episodes of cardiological care to the community annually. We provide cardiology healthcare services to patients of all ages, from in-utero and newborns right through to our senior citizens.
The seven state-of-the-art interventional cardiology laboratories at Monash Medical Centre (MMC), Clayton, Victoria, perform approximately 2 000 angioplasty procedures per year (35% emergency PCI) and over 4,500 coronary angiograms per year. These laboratories operate eight hours per day, five days per week, providing adult interventional services in addition to a 24/7 emergent PCI service. There is high demand for the VHH PCI service, with over 4000 cases performed in 2023.
About the Opportunity
This excellent training program will equip fellows in the art and science of Structural Heart Disease interventions. The unit performs >200 transcatheter aortic valve replacements per year, 30 percutaneous mitral valve interventions, 60 percutaneous closure devices and is a leading centre in early-in-human device trials. The applicant will also have continued exposure to coronary interventional procedures including PCI, IVUS, FFR and OCT.
Our program is particularly geared to those looking towards an academic and research career in structural cardiology as we have considerable involvement in clinical trials and investigator lead research. Academic research is an integral component of our interventional program. All fellows are expected to actively undertake research projects and to present at local (ANZET/CSANZ) meetings and international meetings (TCT, Euro PCR).

- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Working with Children's Certificate
