Housing Division is offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team at the forefront of addressing Australia's housing challenges. Successful applicants can expect to play a key role in implementing the Government's housing agenda and developing policy in response to pressures in the housing system in a fast paced but collegiate work environment.

Multiple opportunities are available for APS5 or APS6 Policy Analysts across Housing Division.

Policy Analysts will:

  • Contribute to strategic policy advice on Australia's housing system, ranging from social and affordable housing solutions to housing market policy.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of new and expanded housing programs, including legislative development and program governance.
  • Work across governments and the private sector to deliver the Government's housing agenda.
  • Work on Commonwealth-state matters in relation to housing, including implementing the National Housing Accord.
  • Conduct research and analysis on housing related matters and contribute to or lead the drafting of high-quality written materials such as reports, briefs and other products.
  • Engage widely with stakeholders across government and within the housing sector.

Successful applicants will have:
  • Skills in policy development and implementation and/or program management, coordination and governance.
  • An ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships and work collaboratively, respectfully and ethically at all times.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand complex issues and work with your team to identify opportunities and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • An ability to deliver high quality work within a high-pressure environment.

A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing similar vacancies.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

Ideally, we are looking for candidates with experience in policy advice or program delivery who know government processes and have a proven track record of working collaboratively.
