Job Details
Under general direction undertake the following duties:
- Develop and deliver existing and emerging collection acquisition programs in accordance with curatorial and accessioning policies and practices including developing targeted acquisition strategies, negotiating lodgement of material, and end to end processing of incoming acquisitions.
- Working independently and with other members of the team, develop, build and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders within the broadcast and sound industry sectors, identified to assist in the growth of the NFSA’s contemporary digital collection.
- Proactively contribute to the interpretation and presentation of the National Collection, through identified outreach programs and projects.
- Participate in the development and enhancement of key systems and workflows with an emphasis on digital transformation through active contribution to priority development projects.
- Undertake complex research and analysis of collection material, to identify strengths and weaknesses in the existing collection, assisting in developing targeted acquisition, outreach and preservation strategies.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated skills and experience working in and knowledge of Australia’s audiovisual industries, with a strong understanding of contemporary digital technologies and formats.
- Strong operational and organisational skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision, using initiative and managing multiple tasks within agreed acquisition priorities as a member of a high performing team.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills building and initiating relationships with new and existing stakeholders within the sound and broadcast industries.
- Experience undertaking complex research and analysis in the curatorial context of acquiring, processing, interpreting and presenting collection material.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, update and implement policies, guidelines and procedures in accordance with Curatorial requirements.
