Job description

DEECA Gippsland is committed to progressing Self Determination of First Peoples. The Aboriginal Partnerships Coordinator supports the delivery of actions identified in the Gippsland Pupangarli Marnmarnepu Implementation Plan (the local self determination plan).
The Aboriginal Partnerships Coordinator supports the region to ensure cultural safety is embedded and visible in the way DEECA Gippsland works across all site and all levels across the region. The Coordinator will support the delivery of a variety of cultural competence training in relation and support the First nations staff within the Gippsland First Custodian network.
This position has been identified for Australian Aboriginals or Torres Strait Islander People. This is a designated position under ‘special measures' section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander people are eligible to apply for this position. Applicants will be required to provide a completed Aboriginality form.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal culture, society and land and resource management issues in Victoria and understanding of networks within Victorian Aboriginal communities and natural resource management agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in working effectively with diverse Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal Victorians and ability to strengthen and build relationships and partnerships.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within the Gippsland Region with hybrid work arrangements available.
