The Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre (KWCC) is passionate and focused, working to support and maximise the safety of women and their children experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence in the greater Katherine region.
ABOUT YOU
As a Support Worker in the W alking Together Program, you will be required to provide information, education, advocacy, referral and case management support to young people aged 13 to 24 years who are experiencing and/or witnessing Domestic and Family Violence.
The Walking Together program has been established to provide a family centric, trauma informed service that aims to reduce and prevent violence and enhance both intimate partner and family relationships. The role requires you to be resilient, practice non-judgement, have awareness of collusion, maintain curiosity and above all prioritize the safety of those experiencing violence.
Effective communication skills are paramount as you engage extensively with other support services and community organisations.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Certificate III in Community Services or at least 2 years of experience in the field of community services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of internal and external client in a professional and ethical manner and if unsure is able and willing to seek advice from appropriate colleagues.
- Skills in case management, advocacy and networking.
- Sound knowledge and dynamics of domestic and family violence. Knowledge of the impact of family violence on adult victims, children, young people and communities
- Sound understanding of Collusion.
- Experience working with people from Indigenous and CALD cultures.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the need for continuation of both personal and professional development.
- Computer Literacy.
- Staff are required to have current and satisfactory: -Criminal History Check (within two years) Ochre card (Working with Children Clearance) Current Drivers Licence
