Title: Academic Dean of new IHE

Location: East Perth, Western Australia

Reports to: CEO

Position Summary: 

The Academic Dean will be a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for overseeing initial registration processes for the Institute. The Academic Dean will preferably have a background in information technology or business and will oversee, in collaboration with the Academic Board, the development of the Bachelor of Information Technology degree.

Location:

This position is based in Perth, Western Australia, and remote working is not an option. You must have permanent work rights in Australia to be considered for this position. No sponsorship opportunities exist for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Institute Registration: Drive the process of TEQSA Institute of Higher Education Registration, document requests and responses, quality control and review, and communication management.
2. Academic Programs: Oversee the institution's development and implementation of academic programs and curricula.
3. Policy Implementation: Read, review, and enhance existing policy documentation and identify opportunities to build processes to implement and monitor the policies.
4. Student Management Systems: Implement the student management systems for managing student journeys at the institute.
5. Learning Management System: Familiarise and implement the learning management system and its monitoring.
6. Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder communication and relationships.
7. Institution Growth: Identify and implement opportunities for growth and development.
8. Staff Recruitment: Coordinate hiring staff members, mentoring and coaching them for their positions.
9. Department Management: Manage departments, including admissions, student services, academic, and compliance.
10. Student Resources: Ensure the students have access to academic resources such as tutoring, counselling, technology, and library services.
11. Student Performance: Monitor course progress, identify at-risk students, provide additional support to enable them to succeed in their studies, and evaluate student performance.
12. Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for all student affairs programs and services within the institution, ensuring they align with its mission and values.

Qualifications:

• A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in an Australian University or Institute of Higher Education, preferably in a senior leadership and governance role.
• Demonstrated Academic Leadership, scholarship of learning and teaching and scholarly activity.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic academic growth and development plans.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a track record of promoting these values within Higher Education.
• High-level familiarity with the current international and domestic Higher Education sector, including the developments around the Universities Accord.
