Job description

As required by clause 1.15.9 of the 2024 EA, current casual or fixed-term employees of the University will be provided with 7 days of prior opportunity to apply for and be considered for vacant continuing positions if they meet the following criteria:

Under the guidance of the Centre's Director, the incumbent will oversee the scholarly activity of the Centre as it pertains to Indigenous Health Leadership and the Centre's strategy to foster the next generation of Indigenous leaders. The Academic Lead will deliver relevant programs, contribute to research projects, manage program evaluations, develop courses, secure funding, and conceptualise new initiatives. The role requires strong leadership, relationship-building skills, and the ability to work autonomously while supporting the Centre's mission in Indigenous Health Leadership.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the delivery of the Melbourne Poche Centre's Indigenous Health Leadership Program
  • Develop and maintain an active Community of Practice that engages the Leadership Program alumni, and wider stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Centre's Speakers Series
  • Develop and deliver the Allyship in Indigenous Health Leadership course
  • Make assessments, decisions and recommendations across a range of activities using a high level of sound judgement, strong problem-solving skills and a broad interpretation of existing policies
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, a deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and experience in developing strategic programs of work. They will demonstrate strong organisational skills, the ability to identify and address strategic issues, and operate with significant autonomy while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.You will also have:
  • A PhD in a relevant field of study and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience in developing and delivering strategic programs of work, especially relating to cohort-based programs and/or programs based on strong relationship building and multi- perspective understanding
  • The ability to liaise and work effectively with a broad range of people across all levels of the organisation, stakeholders and partners/collaborators, including the Poche Centre Advisory Board.
