About The Role
You will provide support to the Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) and to students who identify with having a disability, mental health condition and/or medical condition through either the enrolment or self-referral process.
You will manage front and back administrative processes including all communication with students. Ensure all confidential documentation and case notes are recorded in relevant software reporting systems, whilst assisting with supportive cases studies as required and collecting relevant data and information for reporting purposes for the Team Leader or Manger.
Selected Duties:
- You will be the initial contact point for students presenting for disability support.
- You will be expected to choose between a range of established processes to assess student needs, the level of resources available and decide on the most appropriate course of action within all relevant policies and procedures.
- You will perform taking into consideration how legislation such as the DDA (1992) and Disability Standards for Education (2005) interacts with ASQA, Wodonga TAFE procedures and any other relevant policies or legislative framework.
- You will be responsible for conveying appropriate instruction and guidance to the Casual Support Services Learner Assistants (SSLA’s)
- While guidance is readily available, the position holder is required to manage their own workload and priorities and is expected to determine the best approach from a range of options within the organisations operating procedures.
About You
Skills & Experience
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Disability/Community Services/Business Administration or Individual Support with little or no relevant work experience; or a suitable combination of lesser qualifications and relevant experience in working in a similar role.
- Competent IT skills – experience using online learning platforms and Microsoft Suite
- (Desirable) Experience with Moodle or similar learning platform.
- (Desirable) Knowledge of assistive technology.
- (Desirable) Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Qualification or completed TAELLN411 Unit.
