About the Role:

As an Accountant at Otsana Group, you will have the unique opportunity to intially work remotely before moving to a hybrid working arrangement in the near future, all while collaborating closely with the principal. Your role will be instrumental in establishing and maintaining strong client relationships. You will be part of a small but passionate team that values autonomy, enthusiasm, and dedication to providing top-notch tax and accounting services. Key Responsibilities:

• Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with our clients, understanding their unique accounting needs and becoming their go-to resource.
• Expertise: Provide comprehensive accounting solutions, including bookkeeping, compliance, tax planning, and more, to support the financial success of our clients.
• Autonomy and Collaboration: Work independently while having the full support and guidance of the principal. You will have the freedom to make decisions, but also the opportunity to seek assistance when needed.
• Positive Attitude: Bring a positive and solution-oriented mindset to the team. Approach challenges with enthusiasm and a willingness to find creative solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a public accounting firm or client facing environment. 
• Professional accreditation (CA, CPA or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax legislation and rules.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax and accounting matters to clients in a clear and understandable manner.
• Proficiency with accounting software and tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 

What you’ll do: 

• Use your accounting expertise to prepare and analyse financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Keep our clients books in order with meticulous general ledger account maintenance and reconciliations.
• Prepare tax returns and activity statements for individuals and small businesses.
• Assist our clients through business transactions, identifying tax planning opportunities and providing them with a trusted ear to bounce business strategy ideas off. 
• Communicate effectively with clients, providing excellent customer service and ensuring their needs are met. 
• Stay up-to-date with accounting and tax legislation and rules to provide the best possible service to our clients. 
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving office efficiency and effectiveness. 
• Foster a positive and supportive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
