Accountant

AMA (NSW) is an independent association representing the State’s medical profession to advance the professional interests of doctors and health of the community.  We are dedicated to providing members with representation on a variety of professional services.

The Role

You will play an important role in delivery of timely and accurate finance records. From accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations to supporting the Finance Manager with preparation of schedules and reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Reconciliations of bank statements to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
• Accounts payable and expense claims using Attache (soon to change to Xero) .
• Accounts receivable using approvals app on Teams and SharePoint.
• Prepare and enter journals for all EFTs, BPAYs and direct debits.
• Support with the preparation of primary statements (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow) and assisting in the year-end audit.

 About you

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

• Degree qualifications with major in Accounting
• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally at a membership association
• Excellent communicator who can collaborate easily with different stakeholders
• Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to add valuable insight from data
• Willingness to adapt and grow 
• High quality written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within finance and cross-functionally
• Organised and able to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent Microsoft excel skills and experience of working with accounting software
