The Accountant role primary accountabilities are:

• Responsibility and accountability for the quality of the month end reporting produced by the finance team for the VIQ Australia group
• Month end processing, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis, completed accurately and according to month end timelines.
• Preparation of data for multiple needs such as income tax returns using in-house templates, plus BAS, payroll tax, FBT return, WorkSafe insurance returns, audits
• Ensuring implementation of a continuous improvement culture across all areas including internal controls and system improvements
• Other duties and project work as required to support the finance team objectives

The position of Accountant role is a full-time position on 6 months contract, can be based in Melbourne or Brisbane.

Work Experience, Qualifications, Skill

• CPA/ CA partly qualified or newly qualified
• Degree in Accounting / related field
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting / Finance
• Payroll knowledge considered beneficial
• Experience with Netsuite
• Consolidation knowledge and experience is helpful, but not an essential.
• Tax Experience beneficial. Previous experience with income tax returns, BAS returns, payroll tax returns, worksafe insurance annual returns will be looked upon favorably
• A fast learner - able to understand the business, and prepare month end journals (accrual, adjustments, amortization, prepayment, etc.) with minimum supervision, after 1 to 2 months learning
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• The ability to prioritize tasks
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• The ability to maintain confidentiality
• Good common sense
• Excellent communication skills
• Efficient and organized
