The Accountant role primary accountabilities are:
- Responsibility and accountability for the quality of the month end reporting produced by the finance team for the VIQ Australia group
- Month end processing, including journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis, completed accurately and according to month end timelines.
- Preparation of data for multiple needs such as income tax returns using in-house templates, plus BAS, payroll tax, FBT return, WorkSafe insurance returns, audits
- Ensuring implementation of a continuous improvement culture across all areas including internal controls and system improvements
- Other duties and project work as required to support the finance team objectives
The position of Accountant role is a full-time position on 6 months contract, can be based in Melbourne or Brisbane.
Work Experience, Qualifications, Skill
- CPA/ CA partly qualified or newly qualified
- Degree in Accounting / related field
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting / Finance
- Payroll knowledge considered beneficial
- Experience with Netsuite
- Consolidation knowledge and experience is helpful, but not an essential.
- Tax Experience beneficial. Previous experience with income tax returns, BAS returns, payroll tax returns, worksafe insurance annual returns will be looked upon favorably
- A fast learner - able to understand the business, and prepare month end journals (accrual, adjustments, amortization, prepayment, etc.) with minimum supervision, after 1 to 2 months learning
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- The ability to prioritize tasks
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to maintain confidentiality
- Good common sense
- Excellent communication skills
