Overview of the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accountant who will provide revenue management support for Scientia Clinical Research (SCR), lead all aspects of payroll management and support the Financial Controller with month end and year end processing and reporting and other finance related activity. You will work closely with a multi-functional Clinical Operations team, reviewing and interpreting Clinical Trial Research Agreements, setting up and managing sponsor billing files, ensuring these are up to date and any sponsor billing issues are promptly resolved. You will have excellent planning and organisation skills, a strong process orientation and a passion for quality and continuous improvement.
Key duties/responsibilities:
- Working with the Clinical Operations team on setting up, managing and reconciling sponsor billing files
- Fortnightly payroll processing and reporting
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and journals as required for month end posting
- Assistance in preparation of financial statements using Caseware system
- Assistance with audit requests and deliverables
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and working with stakeholders on implementation
About Scientia Clinical Research
SCR is the first publicly funded purpose-built early phase clinical trials centre in NSW. Located in the Bright Alliance Building with the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre and services of the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Co-located in a major research precinct with Prince of Wales Hospital, Royal Hospital for Women, UNSW Sydney and the Lowy Cancer Research Centre.
About you
To be successful for this position you will fulfil the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or business-related discipline and/or relevant professional sector experience. Ideally working towards CA/CPA qualification.
- Minimum five years’ experience in financial/management accounting.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial controls and experience in process management.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb information and utilise it to analyse, interpret and integrate ambiguous and complex data as well as to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards.
- Self-motived and pro-active with a bias towards taking initiative.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask.
- Commitment to quality and excellence with high attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible in working hours if required.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including proficiency in Microsoft excel.
