Position: AccountantPosition Type: Full-TimeSalary: $70,000 plus superannuation per annumLocation: Sydney NSW 2000Our client is seeking a full-time Accountant to work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of the organization’s financial operations. This role plays a crucial part in financial reporting, internal controls, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making processes.Tasks required include:
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and taxation laws.
- Conduct accurate financial administration and reporting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking activities.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the office, coordinating service providers, supplies, and administrative tasks.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to management to support business objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data accuracy.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize exposure.
- Completing accounts payable administration activities including the scanning, registering, and posting of all invoices.
- Conducting monthly credit card reconciliations.
- Managing suppliers and overhead expenses e.g., telephone, electricity, mobile plans, etc.
- Coordinating the preparation and collation of the monthly Advisory Board Report ensuring a high level of quality is maintained each month.
- Take the lead in preparing and submitting relevant information for financial audits as requested by our clients.
- Assist in preparing weekly and month-end bank reconciliations and administer related data entry.
- Preparation of monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Completing accounts receivable administration and related activities.
- Preparing all month-end accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other required journals.
- Updating detailed daily and annual cash flow forecasts drawing information from several data sources in consultation with the CFO.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws preparing and submitting tax returns incl. monthly and quarterly BAS, PAYG & FBT.
- Liaise with tax consultants and regulatory authorities to address tax-related inquiries.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on potential impacts.
- Analysing monthly account expenses and take corrective action where necessary.
- Maintaining & update Fixed Assets Register and depreciation journals.
- Preparation of payments including the uploading of batches into the bank accounts.
- Prepare monthly supplier statement reconciliations.
- Administer all project contracts including progress claims, variation claims, and extension of time or delay notices, etc.
- Input the approved project budget into Jobpac.
- Provide project information from Jobpac or contracts to project team members.
- Assist with the Internal and External Audit Preparations.
- Assist the CFO in Cost Analysis and Budgeting.
- Manage the Creditor System and Creditor Payment processing.
- Assist in developing financial strategies and initiatives to achieve organizational objectives.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, with CPA or CA qualification preferred.
