Heron accommodates up to nearly 300 guests with the primary draw card being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. There is a marine centre, activities centre, boutique, award-winning day spa, spacious lounge and bar overlooking the pool plus the expansive Shearwater Restaurant. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises.
We are now seeking an experienced Activities Naturalist Guide to work with the Activities team in delivering amazing insights to our guests of our extraordinary natural island and ecosystem.
OVERVIEW
- master reef guide certified advantageous a requirement for this role
- gaining a detailed and professional understanding of the Heron Island natural environment so as to share with our many visitors
- genuinely appreciate our extraordinary Heron Island - plant, bird and marine life
- lead tours - island walk, reef walk, bird walk, turtle viewing, stargazing and others
- provide a true interpretative experience of the natural life at Heron island; guest love this
- introduce arriving guests to the Island Resort, providing them with a brief overview
- lead the popular Junior Ranges program for our younger visitors during school holidays
- deliver informal talks
A Working with Children Blue Card is obligatory. Marine Science background and guiding experience is essential as is Current First Aid qualifications.
For this key guest-focused role, a gregarious and friendly attitude is an absolute must!
