GENERAL MEDICINE REGISTRAR | ADELAIDE | FEBRUARY 2022

Our Adelaide based client is seeking a General Medicine Registrar to join their busy department.

The Position:

Ideally this role is suited for a PGY 4 Basic Trainee however overseas doctors with General medicine experience and eligible for Registration with AHPRA will be considered. 

• The AMU Service is rostered 24/7.
• Works closely with the Emergency Consultant and the Emergency Registrar.
• The Acute Medical Unit and Emergency Registrar works with the Acute Medical Unit Registrar and the team to assess and transfer AMU patients to the AMU.
• Will assess patients who have had the MR10 raised (during 3hrs ED workup).
• Identifies potential Acute Medical Unit short stay/ long stay patients.
• Works closely with the Acute Medical Unit Consultants and junior team.
• Works closely with the Long Stay Consultants and Registrars along with their junior teams.
• Triage readmits to the appropriate long stay teams.
• All medical and aged patients will be assessed in the usual manner.
• Active involvement in teaching medical students and junior medical staff.
• Conduct research and clinical audits as required.
• Sub-specialty reviews are undertaken when rostered on for consults.

The Hospital:

The Hospital is the southern area's largest hospital and provides medical services for people living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.

The hospital is co-located with the University School of Medicine and the Private Hospital.

It is one of two major trauma centres in the state with around-the-clock emergency retrieval service bringing patients to the hospital by road or helicopter.

The hospital and more than 5,000 skilled staff provide an extensive range of services for patients of all ages.

General Medicine Services:

The General Medicine service is one of the largest services in the hospital and deals with patients requiring emergency hospital care for medical conditions who have complex and multi system disease.

General Medicine is made up of 7 units - the Acute Medical Unit, five long stay units and Medical Ambulatory Care Service (MACS). Each unit is staffed by a consultant, registrar, resident medical officers training in internal medicine and intern and each team interacts with a team of skilled nurses and allied health professionals.

After moving to Adelaide and settling in, you could spend your weekends vineyard-hopping, from the Adelaide Hills to the Barossa, or between Clare Valley and McLaren Vale. 

Pop over to Kangaroo Island on the ferry to get up-close and personal with wildlife or unleash your inner history buff at numerous historic sites. You also need to visit Wang Wang and Funi, the two Giant Pandas currently living at the Adelaide Zoo.
