Adult Speech Pathologist, Rehabilitation

A motivated and enthusiastic Speech Pathologist is sought to join the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Speech Pathology team. The position is 27hrs permanent part time and required to work specific hours of 8:45-4pm Mon-Thursday to allow for maximum therapy provided to patients on our rehabilitation ward. The position will also gain broad experience across the whole of hospital and will be part of the shared Sunday roster.

What you'll be doing
The position will predominantly work on the rehabilitation ward providing services to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties, however will also have a small outpatient caseload in addition to assisting on the acute wards as the caseload requires. The position is part time and has specific hours set to provide the best service to patients on the rehabilitation ward. The position will work closely within a neuro rehab team of Speech Pathologists, as well as an Allied Health Assistant. Patients will be seen daily or twice daily depending on need and the role will also work closely with the multidisciplinary team. The Speech Pathologist will also participate in the Sunday roster, working approximately 1 in every 6 Sunday’s with a set day off during the following week.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Current NSW Drivers Licence.
• Experience in the assessment and management of communication difficulties in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, acute setting and outpatients, including LSVT and voice.
• Experience in the assessment and management of swallowing difficulties across acute inpatient, rehabilitation and outpatient settings, including instrumental assessment and provision of swallow rehabilitation.
