TheAdvanced Child Protection Practitioner (RAHS) receives and assesses reports ofalleged abuse and neglect of children and young people. They undertakeinvestigations and develop plans to ensure the safety and wellbeing of childrenand young people is achieved.
Allout of hours urgent Child Protection matters are responded to and managed bythe Central After-Hours Service (CAHS). This includes receiving and assessingnew reports and conducting urgent visits to assess the risk and safety for achild. Rural After-Hours teams support the CAHS across the State. Urgent ruralarea visits are conducted by a Rural After Hours Service (RAHS) team. Thisincludes responding to cases where existing and new Child Protection clientsare at significant risk and require an urgent out of hours response andconsulting with AHS throughout the outreach about key decisions. RAHSoperates an on-call, re-call model and practitioners participate on a rosterand conduct emergency outreach visits as required at night, on weekends andpublic holidays. In addition to conducting outreach visits, RAHS practitionerswill work a core number of days in the Child Protection office and undertake avariety of tasks that support Child Protection operations in the Area/Division.
