An exciting opportunity exists for the Advanced Clinical Coder to provide expert clinical coding and documentation advice and support to the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team.
The successful applicant will undertake targeted audit support and reconciliation of CDI-initiated internal and external initiatives, whilst supporting the development of education packages to improve the quality of clinical documentation.
The Advance Clinical Coder role will also work closely with the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) Clinical Coding Services to ensure consistency of clinical coding practice and advice across the HHS.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team to reconcile external audit recommendations by undertaking coding quality audits including targeted documentation or ad-hoc audits as required.
- Undertake targeted review clinical coding and associated DRG allocation in conjunction with CDI documentation improvement focus areas.
- Contribute to Clinical Documentation Improvement initiatives, including training and education material and actively upskill new and existing Clinical Documentation Specialists. These queries will directly relate to the Queensland Health Activity Based Funding (ABF) model, sub- and non-acute patients (SNAP), and other clinical coding related matters.
- Assign accurate morbidity and procedural codes to episodes of care, through abstraction of relevant information from the patient record and ensuring appropriate and optimal allocation of AR-DRGs.
