Join our Legal Assessments team as an experienced Advisor, specializing in providing complex advice ensuring precise and efficient funding decisions for indictable Criminal Cases.
- Part time ongoing (3 days a week)
- Salary based on experience, range: $98,902 - $123,624 (pro rata) plus super
- Up to $15,900 in salary packaging and hybrid WFH & office model
About the role:
In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring that funding decisions for indictable criminal matters are not only made with precision and efficiency, but also contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and services. This role is ideal for individuals who have practice experience working in the Victorian County and Supreme Court and are committed to making a positive impact on the criminal justice system. The role requires a thorough knowledge of the legal framework surrounding criminal trial and is suitable for someone who has recently been practicing and would like to transition to an advisory role.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country
About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
- Legal practice experience in indictable crime (mandatory including appearing in Court and providing complex legal advice.
- Ability to make quality decisions on funding requests for indictable matters.
- Track record in supporting and implementing process improvements, particularly in funding Major Criminal Cases.
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships, and facilitating open communication with stakeholders.
- Capability to critically analyse complex situations and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Familiarity with legal frameworks surrounding criminal trials and funding procedures.
- Proactive approach to professional development and dedication to delivering high-quality outcomes.
