AV currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Return to Work Advisor to join our People & Culture Division. Providing proficient expert advice and support to our operational and corporate client groups, the role is responsible for end-to-end coordination of return-to-work practices to create a safe and sustainable Return to Work while meeting the organisation's needs. 

This is a full time, ongoing role currently based at Doncaster Headquarters (with hybrid WFH options available). 

About the role 

Reporting to the Senior People Partner, the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • In conjunction with our Specialists, Return to Work & Compensation Management and Senior People Partners regularly report on strategies, processes and ‘best recovery' services
  • Works with the Advisor, Health and Safety to support the prevention of future work-related injuries through the identification of work place risks and hazards and develop, implement and monitor strategies that will improve the delivery of best practice Injury Management
  • Is authoritative in the application of processes and takes appropriate steps to ensure practice adheres to governing legislation and policy, complying as per audit recommendations and system reviews
  • Drives for results across Operational and People Services objectives providing timely, relevant information and documentation to effectively implement our WorkCover strategy so as to provide integrated, consistent and effective Return to Work service delivery
  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with injured employees, local managers, medical practitioners and compensation management specialists to develop, implement and manage an effective Return to Work (RTW) system 

About you 

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  • Completion of a degree or relevant industry certification with proven subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience
  • WorkCover Return to Work Coordinator Training
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in WorkCover Management, occupational therapy, physiotherapy or other allied health-related discipline and maintenance of this qualification (Desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experienced managing injuries and illnesses, conducting workplace assessments, providing advice and feedback on treatment, rehabilitation and Return to Work and educating in basic ergonomics, biomechanics and manual handling
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply workers' compensation legislative standards and guidelines as they apply to organisational claims management and rehabilitation initiatives
  • Sound knowledge of relevant ethical protocols, legal considerations, medical terminology and confidentiality in accordance with the provision of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

This position is graded at AV4 under the Ambulance Victoria (Management and Administrative Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021.
