About you:
To be successful in securing this position, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry)
  • Advanced knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies and strategies
  • Extensive experience with the Aegis CMS for Frigate or Destroyer class warships
  • Extensive experience in eliciting, interpreting and deconflicting requirements, data & information provided by multiple design teams and suppliers
  • Advanced ability to direct and influence specialist multidiscipline, multi-site teams interfacing with a wide range of providers and customers
  • Significant experience working with a broad set of internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with personnel at different levels and from various disciplines
  • An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information
  • Knowledge of the RAN DDG or Type 26 Combat System and Integration approach is highly desirable

Special Requirements:
Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold a current or re-instatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Employment may be contingent on the satisfactory result of criminal and/or other background screens, which require the collection and transfer of personal information.
Your responsibilities will include:
This is an excellent opportunity to work on the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) program, Australia's biggest surface combatant ship project to date. This role offers location flexibility and can be based either in Osborne, SA or Melbourne CBD.
You will have Engineering Management responsibility for the Aegis CMS and Aegis Combat Systems (CS). Primarily you will manage the Hunter Class CS Aegis CMS team to deliver the required outputs to support the HCF Program.
In this role, you will:
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the Aegis CMS and provide technical guidance to stakeholders
  • Work with and supervise the Aegis CMS team to develop and mentor them through dissemination of specialist Aegis CMS knowledge
  • Contribute to the Engineering Lifecycle, through co-ordinating Design Reviews, Zonal Reviews and designating / implementing Maturity Management
  • Drive the development, maintaining and modifying of engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need
  • Act as the main point of contact with customers and stakeholders in assigned areas on engineering matters
  • Work with other Engineering Managers and wider engineering team
