What is the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS)?
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) is a volunteer program which provides companionship and friendship for an elderly person who is feeling alone, or socially isolated, either in an Aged Care facility or in their own home. The program is funded by the Australian Government and is available to anyone receiving a government-subsidised residential Aged Care or a Home Care Package (HCP).

Visits to an elderly person on a regular basis can help them to feel more involved within their community and can add to the quality of their life.
What type of people would make a Volunteer Visitor?
People who enjoy spending time with an older person
People who are reliable and able to work independently.
People who enjoy meeting others and have excellent conversation skills.
People who can commit the time to be a regular visitor. Visits are at least once per fortnight.
People who care about supporting the wellbeing of older people who are experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
People who are over 18.
What type of activities can volunteers and residents do together?
The possibilities are endless, sit and chat, reading books and magazines, playing board games, sitting/walking in the garden just to name a few ideas.
