Our client seeking a full-time Agri Technician for its mixed cropping enterprise located in Esperance, WA. Salary being offered is between $70,000 to $80,000, dependent on experience.
The Agri Technician will be responsible for providing technical support for the cropping activities and will be required to work closely with the Farm Manager and Agronomists to achieve optimal farming outcomes.
Tasks Required:
Crop Maintenance: Providing support in relation to preparing soil, monitoring soil quality including applying fertilizers and pesticides as required and nutrient levels.
Pest and Disease Control: Identifying pests, diseases, and weeds that can harm crops, working with management to control measures including maintaining accurate records of chemicals and veterinary drugs administered.
Machinery Operation: Operate and maintain a variety of agricultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, harvesters, planters, and irrigation systems. Ensure proper functioning and conduct routine checks to prevent breakdowns.
Field Operations: Assist in all aspects of field operations, such as land preparation, planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting. Coordinate machinery usage and scheduling to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Precision Agriculture: Utilize precision agriculture technologies and equipment for tasks like variable rate application of fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation water. Monitor data analytics to make informed decisions regarding crop management practices.
Maintenance and Repair: Perform regular maintenance tasks on machinery, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessary. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to minimize downtime during critical periods.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to agricultural machinery operation.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with farm managers, agronomists, and other team members to execute operational plans effectively. Communicate regularly to coordinate tasks and address any issues that arise during daily operations.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of machinery usage, maintenance activities, and operational expenses. Provide reports and documentation as required for internal tracking and compliance purposes.
