IPA have an exciting opportunity available for our Charters Towers client.
Our State Government Department client are looking for an Agricultural Economist to join their team in Charters Towers.
The successful candidate will be employed by IPA on a labour hire basis, contracted to the Department.
The role will extend until June2023 with potential of extension.
The rate on offer will be $59.12 / hour and the position will be full time hours Monday to Friday (36.25 hours / week).
The position does involve frequent travel to regional areas, therefore you will need to have the flexibility to be able to travel. This is always pre-planned with notice.
A work vehicle, meals and accommodation will be supplied.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Provide economic support to staff and projects through the delivery of high quality economic evaluation and extension services targeting improved profitability and sustainability.
- Develop bio-economic models and use other economic analysis methods to assess agricultural production activities, natural resource management initiatives and policy analysis (gross margin analysis, cost benefit analysis, partial budgeting etc).
- Use appropriate economic methodologies to analyse project data in a timely manner to ensure milestones are met and prepare discussion papers, reports, submissions and other associated correspondence on a range of issues.
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships in the following capacities: in multi-disciplinary teams; with providers of other forms of economic development services, including universities, other government agencies and the private sector; with collaborating organisations and research and development corporations to develop or assist in external projects.
- Undertake projects and activities as required and self-organise workflow priorities and projects to ensure outcomes are met.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Economics OR
- Business OR
- Agriculture (including economics/business)
- Drivers Licence
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within the team
- Highly organised with well-developed time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
