Role Details
Safer Family Services (SFS) isexpanding its service delivery in the inner north of Adelaide. SFSIntensive Family Services (IFS) provides direct services tofamilies through the antenatal period, for infants, children, andyoung people up to 18 years of age who are presenting with highlevel risks and complexities. SFS work in collaboration with bothgovernment and non-government organisations to improve the safety,emotional health and wellbeing of infants, children, and youngpeople in South Australia.
SFS are seeking Practitioners to jointhe inner-north team on a full-time basis.
The role is responsible for:
• Providing support and delivering child focussed casework to children from 0 to 18 years of age and their familiesexperiencing multiple complexities and high-risk safety concernsunder professional guidance and supervision.
• Providing high quality and effective service delivery thatstrengthens and supports the safety, healthy development andwellbeing of children.
• Developing strong working partnerships with bothgovernment and non-government services to effectively link childrenand their families to relevant services.
About You
We are looking for motivatedindividuals who understand the effects of child abuse, neglect anddevelopmental trauma.
You will have the ability to assessand work with families experiencing vulnerability and low levels ofsafety using a case management approach to assess, plan, refer andenable sustained intervention.
You will also have stronginterpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintaineffective collaborative relationships with families,multi-disciplinary teams and peers.

Essential Qualifications:
AHP: An appropriate Social Workqualification from a recognised tertiary institution givingeligibility for full membership with the Australian Association ofSocial Workers.
PO: Appropriate tertiaryqualifications in community services, sociology, criminology,social sciences, human services, health or a relatedfield.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal orTorres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate backgroundand skills but do not have the essential qualification, may applyfor and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and willbe entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional rolesrequiring a qualification in Social Work within the DepartmentHuman Services.
About the Business
Community and Family Services supports vulnerable people andfamilies to participate in social and economic life and buildstronger communities. This division comprises three key areas:
Safer Family Services (SFS) provides awide range of intensive family support services to children, youngpeople and families experiencing a high risk of statutoryintervention from the child protection or youth justice systems.Services also include family support, community development andparenting and youth programs.
The Office for Women works acrossgovernment and the community towards achieving gender equity andpositive change for women in South Australia by developing policyand advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety,wellbeing and economic security. The office also oversees theWomen’s Information Service to support women over the phone,online and in person, as well as regional safety hubs across thestate.
Communities and Justice works towardsbuilding community safety and wellbeing by providing support andservices to children, young people and families in the youthjustice system, building the capacity of communities throughcommunity development projects and working in partnership with thecommunity services sector to respond to people with complex andexceptional needs.
Role Status: Term up to 18 months
Salary Range: $67,466-$82,359 (AHP1/PO1)
