As a Speech Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in identifying the communication needs of children who are deaf and Hard of hearing, as well as children of deaf adults (CODA), and providing them with specialised speech pathology services.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and further develop a high-quality specialised speech pathology service for the Early Intervention Service-Deaf/Hard of Hearing (EIS-DHH).
- Identify the communication needs of children within the service by providing assessment and diagnostic services in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Plan, prepare, implement, evaluate, and modify intervention programs for individual children.
- Maintain accurate records of involvement and comply with procedures, policies, and legislative requirements.
- Consult with non-government and other government organisations in the provision of services.
- Support successful transition of children with communication and language difficulties from early childhood settings to school through collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and provide specialised professional consultation and advice to project officers -EIS-DHH, special educators, hearing and early childhood setting staff.
- Undertake and provide professional learning to extend the knowledge of the project officers and staff in evidence-based best practices of language and communication development.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve work practices and services, contributing to ongoing evaluation of services based on service delivery, outcomes, emerging trends, and community needs.
- An appropriate degree in Speech Pathology
- Other appropriate qualification giving eligibility for practicing membership of the Speech Pathology Association Australia
- Certificate III in Auslan
- Further study in education or disability with a focus on Deaf and Hard of hearing
