The Alcohol and Other Drug Non- Residential Withdrawal(AODNRW) Nurse is primarily responsible for the provision of specialist alcoholand Other Drug withdrawal treatment and pathways for home based withdrawal andresidential withdrawal services across Ballarat and the Central HighlandsRegion.
The AODNRW Nurse will work within a harm minimisationframework, providing treatment and pathways for clients utilisingevidence-based treatment to support a person to cease or reduce Alcohol andOther Drug use to a level that restores their health and wellbeing, provide afirm foundation for a person?s longer-term improved health and wellbeing,provide care that is cognizant and responsive to individual need and level ofcomplexity, and forms part of an integrated and coordinated care pathway.
The role will include engagement, assessment, treatmentplanning, support and advocacy for clients. There will also be an opportunity to work with and support clients?families and significant others, where appropriate.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the AODNRWNurse will work closely with other withdrawal services across the Grampians andMetro regions to ensure services are accessible and coordinated for clients.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Cert IV in AOD and / or Mental Health is preferred (orwillingness to undertake further study)
- Knowledge and experience working with withdrawal clientswith dependence on various substances is preferred
- Knowledge and experience of effective case managementstandards and practice
- Knowledge of current Alcohol and Other Drug interventions
- Capacity to deal objectively and professionally with complexclients and related issues
