In March 2023 Deakin Private Hospital opened as iMH's first private mental health hospital. An Aurora Healthcare and Medibank partnership. Deakin Private Hospital is a 52-bed hospital, with group therapy rooms and doctors consulting suites for the treatment of young adults and adults. It is Canberra’s first private mental health facility featuring a dedicated unit for young adults aged 16 and over, a fully integrated inpatient, day patient and outpatient mental health hospital that serves the region. iMH hospitals will be providing an innovative model of patient care which will allow private patients to receive the right care in the right location at the right time. Services include overnight admissions, a day only hospital, group therapy programs and a hospital in the home service model. Visiting Psychiatrists credentialed at hospital will be supported by a Care Coordinator to support clinical care and continuity across the service streams.
We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Allied Health Assistants to join our growing team. There are part time and casual shifts available for the successful applicants.
This role will see you facilitating/co-facilitating activity groups for mental health patients under the supervising ward therapist and assisting the Allied Health Manager with allocated tasks.
You will be supported by experienced clinicians and mental health professionals.
We especially welcome applications and expressions of interest from 3rd or 4th year undergraduate Occupational Therapy students with a passion to work within mental health for Allied Health Assistant casual shifts.
Essential criteria:
- Excellent group-work and teamwork skills, as well as confidence working autonomously.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Passion and enthusiasm to work within mental health.
- Good teamwork skills
- Competent computer skills
- Experience working with people living with various mental health challenges including (but not limited to) Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, PTSD, Personality Disorders and Substance Use
Desirable criteria:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
- Willingness to upskill in psychotherapeutic interventions e.g. CBT, DBT and ACT
- 3rd or 4th Year Occupational Therapy student with previous placement in mental health (preferably in-patient setting)
