This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

- To provide assistance and support (clinical and administrative) to Allied Health Professionals in the provision of Allied Health services to patients and clients in facilities and communities within the Far West Local Health District.

About Balranald MPS
The Balranald Multi Purpose Service includes 24-hour level 2 emergency and sub-acute inpatient services, residential aged care services, and a range of primary, community and ambulatory services. The facility consists of an Emergency Department with two resuscitation bays and one observation/safe room located within the Emergency Department. Inpatient beds available are 8 acute/sub acute beds including a palliative care and observation room.
The Residential Aged Care area has 15 high care places including four dementia specific and one respite bed. Residential aged care services are provided in an environment suitable for people with dementia. The Balranald MPS also has provision for three renal dialysis chairs.
The full range of support services such as Allied Health is available. These services are provided by visiting clinicians from Mildura, Swan Hill or Dareton. Medical services are provided by the town’s General Practitioner, whose offices are co-located at the MPS.

Balranald is a beautiful rural town on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. It is a friendly atmosphere with great venues for barista coffee, a well renowned bakery and discovery centre. A short drive takes you to the scenic larger town of Swan Hill for shopping, a great swimming pool and art centre. Balranald offers amazing food at the local RSL, to die for take away Pizza and more. Balranald Shire is also home to the spectacular Yanga national Park and World heritage listed Mungo national park, rich in Aboriginal history. Surrounded by five of NSW’s most iconic rivers (the Murray, Lachlan, Wakool, Edward & Murrumbidgee), the town provides an ideal location for boating, fishing, kayaking and other water sports.
How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible. * Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent qualification OR willingness to undertake and complete training.
- Experience working with people with a disability in a health care setting.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to follow instruction, for example regarding patient care and safety.
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications.
- Current NSW Driver’s license.
- Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including the ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required), as delegated by Allied Health Professionals, both supervised and unsupervised.
