About the role
The Allied Health Assistant assists the physiotherapists in the implementation of therapeutic interventions to clients admitted to the Rehabilitation and Aged Services at Calvary Health Care, Kogarah (CHCK). This includes the implementation of exercise programs and/ or hydrotherapy programs and is also involved in the personal care and supervision of clients attending physiotherapy services. This position is rotational, and the incumbent will rotate between the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, Day Rehabilitation Unit / Hydrotherapy Pool, and the Transitional Aged Care Program. When working in Inpatients the incumbent will be expected to work a regular Saturday shift, and other times while Saturdays may not be regular, they may be requested to fill a Saturday shift to cover leave. At any stage the incumbent of this position may also be requested to work in other physiotherapy units or a Saturday shift within the CHCK Physiotherapy Department.
Your main duties will include:
- Working around people who may display aggressive, distressed or unpredictable behaviour
- Managing time and responding to various demands from different sources
- Responding appropriately to client and family/carer expectations and reporting any issues to supervisor
About you
- Communicate effectively, with cultural sensitivity and confidentiality with clients to ensure client needs and requirements are identified communicated and met
- Effective reporting of patient related communication to the supervisor and other health care team members, e.g. patient status, session performance, progress and handover.
- Comply with Calvary work health and safety policies and procedures including manual handling, infection control, emergency procedures, and the reporting of identified hazards.
- Act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote a culture and supporting practices that reflect the organisational values through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients/clients and employees.
- Maintain responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in training/education activities and performance reviews/appraisals in order to continuously improve the level of service provided to patients/clients.
