Specialist Medical Receptionist Role
We are a fast-paced, rapidly growing practice and are looking for our newest team member. Our Medical Receptionists play a vital and valued role as our frontline team.
We are looking for a receptionist who fits in well with our team culture, is quick to learn new software and skills and someone who will take initiative. This position is part time, 4 days per week with flexibility to cover annual leave and sick leave when needed.

The practice receives a high volume of referrals and phone calls. You will need to adapt to each day’s changing demands and tasks, while ensuring our patients receive high quality care and service. You will need to maintain a steady workflow and you must be able to multitask in order to meet the requirements of a busy medical clinic.
What you will do:
- Demonstrate outstanding people skills with the ability to relate well to patients, health care professionals and team relations.
- Function in a highly organised and time efficient manner always supporting 2 x Personal Assistants and the Practice Manager.
- Use your administrative skills and exceptional phone manners to deal with each day’s changing demands.
- Preparation of clinics including management of referrals, sourcing results and third party information required prior to consultations.
- Liaise with external healthcare professionals and other third-parties including Workcover, Insurance companies etc.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a tight knit team.
- Maintain precise and timely patient information and data collection, diary management and patient booking through practice management software.
- Provide administrative support to medical practitioners and clinical team members within the practice.
About you:
- Min. 2 years Specialist Medical Receptionist experience (Orthopaedic surgical practice highly desirable)
- Strong work ethic, reliable and energetic.
- Effective written and oral communication skills with a positive attitude and exceptional customer service skills.
- Uncompromising attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a mature approach to problem solving.
- Strong organisational skills and calm under pressure.
- Extremely proficient computer skills, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and good experience using medical administration software. (Previous use with Xestro will be a strong advantage.)
- Sound understanding of medical terminology.
- Adaptable, flexible and have a strong ability to work autonomously.
