About the role:
The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) is part of an integrated, multidisciplinary Allied Health Team to improve the patient experience by providing assistance and support to Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) in the provision of clinical and therapeutic services' services to Children, Young People and Families. The AHA will work as a member of the multidisciplinary clinical team and research team, under the direction and supervision of a qualified Allied Health Professional, to facilitate client/patient/consumer care by providing clinical and administrative support.
As our AHA you will provide support to the HNEkidsRehab Department and EPIC-CP team to provide an integrated, coordinated, and family-centred approach to care for patients and their families.
You will optimise care, by assisting families with practical tasks related to their child’s disability and health. HNEkidsRehab are leading a research project “EPIC-CP: a pilot clinical trial of social prescribing for Children and Young People with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and their parents/caregivers” in partnership with the University of Sydney, University of NSW, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick.
In this role, you will organize and coordinate various administrative and patient-related activities. This includes supporting patients and families in completing applications for services and benefits, providing practical advice and support, and working under the direction of Social Workers within the team. The position involves frequent interactions with patients and their families both in the hospital and over the phone.

Requirements:Our successful candidate will possess the following:
- Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance OR commitment to complete Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance within 3 years.
- To meet the requirements for Level 2: demonstrated experience working as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 for a period of 12 months or more and / or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent qualification). If applicant is unable to demonstrate these requirements, applicant will commence service at Level 1. If applicant has completed a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, they will be classified as an Allied Health Assistant Level 3.
- Current first aid certificate.
