We are currently seeking a qualified Allied Health Assistant to join our Allied Health team on an ongoing full-time or part-time basis. The key to success within this position is the ability to be proactive, self-driven and manage time effectively paired with the ability to be adaptive and flexible to the changing needs of our Consumers.
About the role
The Allied Health Assistant’s primary objective is to enhance the wellness and lifestyle capacity of our Consumers through exercise, activities and directives focused on restorative and reablement programs. Direction and support is provided by the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist for the delivery of Allied Health Care and Services.
You will be a dedicated yet energetic team player with a passion for improving the quality of life for those in your care. You will support the team with the delivery of Allied Health Services, individual and group programs.
You will be responsible for:
- Provide quality Consumer care under the clinical supervision of an Allied Health Professional
- Safe provision of Physiotherapy programs in consultation with, and as per documented by the Registered Physiotherapist
- Manage Resident’s exercise classes including general exercise
- Actively participate in the organisation and implementation of therapy programs as prescribed by the Allied Health Professionals
- Ensure Residents have effective Pain Management
- Demonstrate the provision of care that promotes physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well being
- Assist with mobility, falls prevention and pressure area care equipment management and application as prescribed by the Allied Health Professional
- Record and document changes in ambulation and care required for individual Residents in their progress notes
- Assist with training, assessing and coaching of Manual Handling Competencies
About you:
- Successful completion of Certificate IV Allied Health (or equivalent – working towards completion of Bachelor of Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy)
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to work independently and as a team
- Caring and compassionate attitude
- Effective time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads Sound knowledge of WHS and manual handling practices, preferably in an aged care or health setting
