SANBRADO GOLD OPERATION


The Company owns and operates the Sanbrado Gold Operation (Sanbrado) in Burkina Faso, West Africa.  The project is located about 90km east-southeast of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso and encompasses both underground and open pit mining operations.


The underground mine is accessed through a box-cut and portal immediately southwest of the M1 South open pit. The mines are all within 1-2km of the plant which is a conventional SABC milling circuit, gravity and carbon in leach processing with a nominal throughput capacity of 2.5Mtpa.


Sanbrado is on track to produce 190,000 – 210,000 oz at Sanbrado in 2024 at AISC of THE ROLE West African Resources is seeking to employ an Alternate Underground Manager to join the Sanbrado underground mining team.  Our ideal candidate for this role will be a tertiary qualified senior mining engineer who is experienced performing an Alternate Underground Manager role.  Emerging Underground Managers are encouraged to apply. Functions and accountabilities will include; Overseeing the performance of underground mining operations; Short and medium term mine planning and scheduling; Designing and planning drill and blast activities; Monitoring production activities and targets; Oversee infrastructure projects and associated functions; and Mining contractor management. We are seeking a mining professional who has the experience and desire to share their knowledge and developing the skills and professional capabilities of mining engineers and other technical personnel. Applications are sought from senior mining engineering professionals how have the following qualifications, skills and experience; Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, which is supported by recent employment history in underground gold mining operations or underground technical roles; Additional qualifications, including a First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) would be highly regarded; Previously performed an Alternate Underground Manager role and held underground statutory appointments; The ability to work at, and deliver high professional and technical standards; A genuine commitment to the promotion of a safe working culture and practices; A demonstrated employment history in working as part of successful underground operational in which production, cost targets and safe working practices are achieved; A competent user of mining software (Deswik would be highly regarded); Management of an underground mining contractor; A working knowledge of underground mining fleet capabilities; Oversee the planning and completion of projects. Candidates who have gained underground operational or technical experience working in specialist mining / engineering consultancies are encouraged to apply.
