ABOUT US:
The Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) is a progressive union dedicated to advancing the rights and wellbeing of manufacturing workers and our communities.
We are driven by our values. We are democratic, inclusive, fair and respectful; we do what we say; and we work strategically and stand together as one to deliver outcomes for members.
With a rich history and commitment to social justice, we pride ourselves on bold member-led campaigns that effect real change and build workers’ power.
PRIMARY ROLE STATEMENT
This exciting new role in the Union has been created at a time of tremendous challenge, change and opportunity for AMWU members. Across a broad range of industries, members are fighting for the issues that matter to them today, and campaigning for a future in which they and their communities can thrive.
When people think about the huge opportunities for the future of manufacturing in our country, we want them to see the faces and hear the voices of AMWU members and Officials calling for good union jobs. This means telling our members’ stories and backing in their campaigns with timely and targeted promotions, branding and publicity. Alongside that we want to ensure that the voices of union members and Officials are sought by journalists and other opinion setters who are shaping the broader conversation about these issues.
This is where you come in.
Reporting to the National Secretary, you will be responsible for supporting the AMWU’s ambitions with Marketing and Media activities that tell members stories and build broad recognition and support.
We are looking for a great collaborator with ambition, initiative and experience who can work within a small team juggling multiple projects and working with a range of stakeholders. If you are ready to put your Marketing and Media skills to use and make a difference for workers and their communities, then we want to hear from you.
This role requires interstate travel to State Branches from time to time.
