About the RoleThe Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at Western Health provides services for more than 30,000 Surgical procedures and more than 5,500 deliveries a year. With the exception of Cardiac, all surgical specialities are represented. In addition, the Anaesthetic Department runs a busy acute and chronic pain service, teaching program and is actively involved in ongoing research and audit.The Department employs 36 Registrars at any one time - rotating through the North Western and Southern Rotational Programs and Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine Training Schemes.The Department has thirteen (13) training positions available for
Provisional Fellows and/or anaesthesia trainees not affiliated with a Victorian rotational training program. We employ 4
Provisional Fellows and 9 advanced anaesthetic registrars with a minimum of 24 months accredited experience in anaesthesia in Australia or Overseas. PFYs are employed for either a full year or a six month term and for some streams a full year commitment is preferred.Aside from general fellowships we offer streams including:
