The TV & Content Group is responsible for a key pillar of the Optus Strategic Plan; to excite our customers with a range of exclusive and non-exclusive content, delivered in an ever-increasing mobile and digital life and where customer experience needs to be uncompromising. The entertainment strategy will see Optus move from traditional telco to the entertainment and content provider of choice in Australia as it differentiates against other telco's and content providers. A strong understanding of the global and local sports entertainment industry and markets along with a working understanding of navigating matrix organisations is essential to being successful in this role.
The Android Developer is a role within the TV & Content Product Development team. This group is responsible for the end to end product design and development of Optus's TV & Content Products and Solutions. This group closely with other parts of the Optus Organization and key partners to deliver and operate these products and solutions.
Your day in the life of a Android Developer at Optus
Contribute to next-gen platform rebuild.
Development of new Android Application features for Phone and Tablet and Android TV.
Development of new Application features.
Using tools to identify and fix the App crashes and issues which are impacting customers.
Using tools to identify and fix video streaming and API related issues.
Management of android app submission to Play store.
Your skills to pay the bills
Minimin of 3 years' experience as an Android developer.
Understanding of Android ecosystem.
Detailed knowledge of mobile platform architecture.
Proficiency with Kotlin, Java and Android SDKs as well as up-to-date with most modern Android development practices.
Experience with developing video streaming applications.
Experience with developing applications that utilise backend platform systems via API's.
Experience using Atlassian tools (Confluence ad JIRA).
Experience with working with ExoPlayer is a plus.
Experience with developing application for Android based TV Platforms.
Experience with creating and modifying design assets in Photoshop and/or Sketch.
