Are you passionate about your community? About the role We are seeking a dedicated AOD Practitioner!

You will provide an entry point into AOD Services for individuals and families through intake, assessment, counselling and care recovery coordination. Responsibilities include Assess individuals (including forensic clients) utilising approved screening and comprehensive assessment tools including risk assessments Ensure clients are linked into appropriate services in a timely manner and that clients are supported for the period between assessment and service linkage Liaise with allied health and other health care professionals to obtain necessary medical and other healthcare records when required Maintain knowledge of AOD related developments and service sector reforms Identify and mitigate any risks in relation to the site, staff, and consumers This is a permanent part-time position, 30.4 hours per week, based in Corio, VIC.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5 Award. What you will have Minimum Diploma in AOD or a related health and community services Diploma with the 4 AOD core units Minimum 3 years’ experience within the AOD/Mental Health sector Experience in delivery of AOD/Mental Health client brief interventions and AOD Counselling and undertaking AOD Assessments Experience and resilience in working with complex AOD/Mental Health clients presenting with challenging behaviours Understand AOD Sector, Intake requirements and funding implications including bed management, forensic clients and reporting standards Extensive understanding of Addictive behaviours and AOD, both illicit and licit Knowledge and experience assisting clients to make informed decisions and engage appropriate supports to achieve their goals Knowledge and experience in working with clients on Pharmacotherapy Knowledge and experience in Harm Minimisation and Overdose Prevention, including Naloxone programs Benefits working at The Salvation Army
