The Role

The RIMPA Global Board is seeking to appoint a new Board member to fill the role of Appointed Director for Finance. The Appointed Director for Finance leads the financial oversight of the organisation.

The Board has evaluated its structure through the Board Skills Matrix and is seeking candidates with expertise particularly in financial management.

As a Board member, the Appointed Director for Finance shares responsibility and decision-making with other members of the Board and it will therefore be an important part of the role to ensure that other Board members understand financial information that is being presented and the implications of this information.

The location is not restricted to Queensland, applications Australia wide are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of director responsibilities: Including an understanding of the role as well as the legal, ethical, fiduciary, and financial responsibilities 
• Financial Strategy and Planning: Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making at the Board level, offering insights and recommendations related to financial management and long-term financial planning
• Financial Oversight: Oversee and manage the organisation’s financial affairs, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and integrity in all financial transactions and reports.
• Corporate Governance: Maintain the highest ethical and governance standards in all business operations and decisions
• Finance Committee: Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee and manage the Board’s review of and action on its financial responsibilities
• Budget Management: Lead the development, implementation, and regular review of the annual budget, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives
• Stakeholder Relations: Maintain effective communication with stakeholders regarding the organisation's financial status and developments
• Financial Reporting: Present financial reports at Finance Committee meetings, Board meetings and Annual General Meeting 
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with applicable financial legislation, policies, and regulations. Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities, implementing measures to safeguard the organisation’s assets.

Skills & Experience 

• Strong financial and analytical skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) is highly desirable
• Proven experience in financial management and accounting 
• Experience serving on a board or similar governance body is preferred

Meetings and Time Commitment

Finance Committee Meetings:

• Meet monthly to review the monthly financial reports. Time commitment is one hour.

Board Meetings:

• Board meetings are held six times a year, with two being held in person and four held virtually. 
• Time commitment for in person meetings is one day in March and two days in September. Virtual meetings are one hour time commitment.

Annual General Meeting:

• Held virtually. Time commitment is one hour. 

Term Commencement

May 2024

Appointed Director Term Duration

Two years with the possibility of serving up to three terms.

Board nomination form must be fully completed and emailed to the RIMPA Global Board Secretariat **************@rimpa.com.au no later than Thursday 4 April 2024.

Kindly note that these positions are voluntary, and there is no direct remuneration involved. However, Board members will not incur expenses when attending meetings or specific RIMPA Global events. 

All nominations will undergo assessment by a designated nomination committee to ensure they meet the required criteria.
