The Opportunity
PGC Training is seeking applications from enthusiastic, motivated individuals with a great work attitude looking to begin their career as a Mechanical Fitter/Machinist.
The Mechanical Fitter-Machinist apprenticeship is a 42 to 48-month hands-on program that combines onthejob and offthejob training. Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will work under the guidance of experienced and qualified Mechanical Fitters in the workplace and undertake classroom-based and practical training and assessments.
Working as an apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist you will learn to use tools, machines, equipment, and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant and equipment to operational standards. Parts may be repaired or manufactured using lathes, milling, and drilling machines. They test and identify defective or worn mechanical components or equipment. Mechanical Fitter/Machinists also use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) and be issued with a Western Australian Trade Certificate.

About You
- Good communication, literacy, and numeracy skills
- Reliable, flexible, and honest.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Hold a Valid 'C' Class Drivers Licence and own reliable transport
- A positive attitude - you will learn the skills and gain experience
- Must be eligible to work in Australia (Australian citizen or permanent resident)
- Minimum C grade in Year 10 Maths and English (or equivalent)
- Strong commitment to safe work practices, policies, and procedures
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical exam, including a drug and alcohol screen
Desirable
- Completed a MEM20105 Certificate II in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Machinist Pre-Apprenticeship) or MEM20422 Certificate II in Engineering Pathways.
Benefits
- Full time employment contract - earn while you learn (paid weekly)
- Hourly rate: $14.40 to $24.08 per hour, plus superannuation
